Project Scope:

This project connects Rankin Park to Gaston Tech Parkway via a new 0.8-mile greenway where it will meet another greenway project coming from Dallas Park. This greenway is part of a larger effort to link the parks around Gaston County to increase walkability and encourage active living within the community.

This project is being partially funded with money from the federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant.

Background:

Gaston County is working with the municipalities to provide alternate means of travel for residents. This project is part of a broader effort to link the City of Gastonia and the Town of Dallas through a network of trails and greenways. This will allow residents to walk or cycle between the two municipalities and reduce car dependency. This project will tie in with a previous City of Gastonia project which expanded the Highland Park greenway to Rankin Lake Park.
