Project Scope:

Gaston County is working in conjunction with the city of Lowell and the Carolina thread trail to add greenways in the area around Poston Park. This section of the trail runs from the River Heights to Poston Park and takes a circuitous route down along the South Fork River.

Background:

This trail is intended to be part of a broader effort to both increase walkability and recreational access in the town of Lowell as well as serve as a segment of the larger Carolina Thread Trail initiative. This particular section will run from River Heights and wind through Poston Park, eventually terminating at the summit of Spencer Mountain.
