Project Scope:

Gaston County is constructing a sidewalk connecting the existing sidewalk near the River Heights neighborhood to Poston Park along Lowell Spencer Mtn Rd. This project is intended to improve walkability and access to Poston Park from the upcoming neighborhood developments.

This project is being partially funded using money from the Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant.

Background:

The Town of Lowell is experiencing rapid growth, with many new neighborhood developments nearing completion. In preparation for this influx of new residents, Gaston County is working with the Town of Lowell to expand access to public amenities such as parks and greenways. This is part of a broader effort to reduce car dependency in the area and promote active lifestyles through enabling alternate means of travel.
