Project Scope:

The New Hope convenience and recycling center currently located on Lake Wylie Road in South Gastonia is being relocated to a newly developed and expanded facility on Wycliff Lane. Construction will include building a completely new convenience center from the ground up with associated drives, parking areas, drop-of containers, locations for both household waste and recyclables, and County staff.

Background:

In response to the rapid development occurring in the Southeast Gastonia, Cramerton, and Belmont areas, the need for expanded waste management services became increasingly evident. To better serve the growing population, Gaston County decided to relocate the existing convenience center approximately half a mile north to a larger site on Wycliff Lane. This transition is part of Gaston County’s ongoing efforts to improve solid waste services and better accommodate the needs of residents. The new site offers significantly more space, allowing for increased collection capacity, improved traffic flow, and enhanced service efficiency. These upgrades will support a more convenient and user-friendly experience for the public while also improving operational effectiveness. This new location offers significantly more space, providing a safer, more efficient, and better-equipped facility. The upgraded site will enhance waste collection capabilities, improve traffic flow, and support environmental goals by reducing pollution and promoting sustainable practices throughout Gaston County.
