Project Scope:

This project will construct 4,400 linear feet of sidewalk along Neal Hawkins Rd, connecting the Parkside subdivision to the existing sidewalk network at Martha Rivers Park. This project will increase walkability and park access to many of the surrounding areas and new subdivisions being constructed in the area.

This project is being partially funded using money from the Federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant.

Background:

With many new subdivision projects nearing completion, Gaston County is seeking to promote active living and healthy lifestyle choices; and reduce projected traffic congestion for county residents. This initiative includes creating additional sidewalks near high-traffic areas to provide alternate means of travel to reduce car dependency.
