The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) offered ARPA funds to Gaston County to partially cover work associated with linking the City of High Shoals and Two Rivers’ sewer systems. High Shoals operates a sewer collection system serving approximately 300 customers, but areas south of the South Fork Catawba River are not currently served and are relying on aged septic systems. Interlocal Agreements are in place for construction, operations and maintenance of a sewer extensions to serve this area of High Shoals.
