Project Scope:

The project includes an interior renovation of the existing office and garage at 323 N. Avon Street. This consists of renovated work bays, additional larger bays to accommodate fleet vehicles, and upgrades to equipment such as vehicle lifts. The design will repurpose the vacant areas of the building into useable parts/equipment storage. The existing parking lot and parking lot expansion will be used to accommodate employee parking, inbound and outbound workflows, and overnight vehicle storage.

Background:

Gaston County Fleet Services maintains over 700 County-owned vehicles and equipment units through both routine and preventive maintenance services. Computerized records are kept for parts, labor, and fuel usage to accurately track lifetime costs for operations and equipment replacement purposes. The number of vehicles serviced continues to increase as the County grows. The old facility and parking at 945 Osceola Street lack sufficient space to service vehicles, provide necessary storage or to facilitate proper inbound/outbound workflows. These renovations and improvements will allow Gaston County to efficiently maintain the growing number of vehicles needed for services provided to citizens.
