The Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) is the backbone of how our county grows and develops. As Gaston County evolves, so must the tools we use to guide thoughtful and sustainable development.
This project has been designed to:
- Align the county's regulations with current and future development needs
- Streamline processes for efficiency
- Enhance clarity and usability of the UDO for residents, developers, surveyors, and staff
- Incorporate modern planning principles, best practices, and the development community's feedback

Virtual Check-Ins for Steering Committee Members
Members from Gaston County Planning and Zoning and Kimley Horn will be hosing "office hours" for the steering committee members. The dates of these virtual meetings correlate with the due dates for comments for each batch. Attendance is not required, however we strongly encourage you to take to attend and ask any questions you may have about the content in the drafts.
